Congratulations to our 2020 Kathleen Lencioni Career Development Scholarship Winner!

Please join SOHL in congratulating Gabriel Gomez as this year’s scholarship winner! Gabriel plans to use the scholarship funds toward Lean Six Sigma training.

Gabriel Gomez is currently a Project Manager for the Scripps Accountable Care Organization, where he manages projects relating to ACO operations and value-based care at Scripps Health. Gabriel is passionate about population health, practice management, analytics, and healthcare leadership. He has 8 years of healthcare experience, with previous roles including Administrator of Geriatrics and Palliative Care at a Maryland healthcare system and Director of Volunteer Services at a nonprofit organization. He holds a Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, is a certified PMI Project Management Professional (PMP), and is trained in Lean principles for healthcare organizations. An active member of ACHE in San Diego, he has participated in the SOHL mentorship program and the SOHL Executive program. Gabriel also volunteers with ElderHelp, where he provides friendly visits, social field trips, and transportation for seniors in San Diego.

Kathleen Lencioni

March 15, 1953 – June 27, 2017

Kathi will be forever remembered by the SOHL community. She was a leader in the San Diego Community for many years where she held leadership roles at Sharp Health. Kathi actively participated in SOHL through mentorship efforts, teaching board of governors’ exam study classes, and by holding the distinction of Regent, Southern California. Her legacy and devotion to leadership lives on through the generosity of her family and this annual scholarship award. This scholarship helps her to continue to make a difference in an aspiring leader’s life every year.
